After much anticipation and rumors galore, the tenants of the street level retail space in Avenue have been announced. This announcement was first released to tenants of Avenue Uptown just last week. There will be two tenants in the street level retail space which will be occupied by a restaurant and an urban market.
The restaurant will be called Basil Restaurant. Basil is popular in Charleston, SC as a hot spot for upscale Thai cuisine. With a focus on fresh and original, the menu at Basil is sure to be a popular dining spot. Basil will be located on the corner of 5th and Church Streets offering a Tapas menu in addition to the lunch and dinner menus. Basil will also feature a full full-service bar. This new addition to the Uptown will help add more diversity in the Uptown cuisine alternatives. The other retail space in avenue will be filled by an urban market. Called, The Avenue Market, this new urban market will offer staple grocery items, beer, wine, and fresh food to patrons. The market will also feature fresh deli sandwiches, sushi, smoothies, and yogurt. Fronting Church Street, the market will offer convenience for anyone on the go in Uptown as a more centrally located alternative to Reid’s. Although no official opening dates have been released, it is projected that the doors will open for business sometime in the fall. |
